“Yeah, I know what you mean. Sometimes I feel like Liam here gets me better than my own family does,” she explained. “Though… it’s hard. I dunno what he thinks of me, even after all these years. He’s a very distant Pokemon…” she shrugged. “But I like to think my connection with animals is stronger as stronger one than the connections I have with most humans.” Tzila blinked. “Oh uh… a Pokeball.” She took the device off her belt and held it out to Daiyu for her to inspect. “It’s a capsule that I keep my Pokemon in.”

“Oh but… I guess you probably don’t know what a Pokemon is if you’re asking what a Pokeball is…” she grumbled. “They’re like animals… but uh… with super powers. Liam’s not a dog, he’s a Houndour. Real similar though…” she explained matter-of-factually. “Here, I’ll show you what I mean.”

Liam immediately leapt up, excited to be able to show off, and let loose a Flamethrower.

“Y-YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO WAIT TILL I GIVE YOU A COMMAND!”

“Eheh…” Rubbing the back of her head, she couldn’t help but feel a little bad. Just a little. Literally the only human she could even talk to without feeling lightly nervous would have been just one of her brothers, and he wasn’t necessarily around; he was actually in another country.

“Y-you keep… animals in a capsule..?!” The news made her go blank, and she wasn’t sure exactly how to feel about this. Wasn’t that animal abuse or whatever? Though when hearing the term Pokemon, she sort of sighed in relief. Maybe it was a creature used to something like that? “So I see! In fact if it weren’t for his unique outer appearance.. it’s no wonder I thought he was a normal dog.” Interested in seeing exactly how the woman was going to show her, her Pokemon jumped up and released a large string of flames from it’s mouth? “AAHH!” She was surprised and intrigued at the same time, flying back and gawking at the animal. “D-did- did he really just…”

“Way to go Liam, I think you freaked her out,” she grumbled.

“Well whatever, Liam! Let’s show her what you’re made of!”

The Houndour leapt up into the air and showed impressive bouts of agility and strength, blowing smoke and flames around and probably causing tons of property damage to let Daiyu know just how powerful he was. Tzila shook her head, “Show off. Anyway, like I said. Pokemon are like animals with super-powers! I have a whole little team~!”

Tzila blinked and looked up at Daiyu, “…. Me too!” She grinned after that. Animal lovers were usually people she enjoyed the company of - or at least that had been her experience. At the mention of Lei-Fon, Tzi practically started glowing with sudden excitement. “Huskies are so pretty. Lots of shedding though… and energy. My personal favorite is the Doberman though.”

Liam tilted his head at Tzila. He wasn’t just some mutt! He was a Houndour, “Grrrrr,” he tried, trying to get her to correct her mistake.

“…. Liam?” she blinked down at him. “Don’t make me put you back in a Pokeball.”

The more she spoke, the more relaxed Daiyu grew. A smile had somehow crept up on her face, and she wasn’t sure when. Probably when she started talking about Huskies. “He is full of energy, and emotion. But he’s been my best friend ever since I was five.” Her own head tilted when the Houndour growled, and she blinked.

“Wait.. put him back in a what?” That was something she had never heard of putting a dog in before.

“Yeah, I know what you mean. Sometimes I feel like Liam here gets me better than my own family does,” she explained. “Though… it’s hard. I dunno what he thinks of me, even after all these years. “Hm?” she tilted her head. This girl seemed really nervous. Well, Tzila could relate. That fact in itself gave her a bit of comfort in the situation, “Well… as long as you don’t hurt him then I certainly don’t mind. Liam’s a little bit um…” she trailed off and sighed before shrugging. “Liam’s a little weird, for a canine. They’re usually social animals but he’s kinda like a cat… being all… ~super independent~ n’ everything.” She chuckled and scratched her companion behind the ears. Liam gave a huff of indignation, glaring up at Tzila as if trying to ward her off, but she merely smiled at him and snickered further. “Oh yeah, you’re a big toughie aren’t you Liam~”

“I would never hurt him!” she quickly responded, giving a defensive quip to her voice. “I love animals.” That’s all she said, for now. It was hard to trust someone so easily for Daiyu, but this one seemed nice. Kneeling down, she pet the animal atop it’s head, and giggled lightly at how it glared at it’s master. Kind of reminded her of Lei-Fon when she got him as a child. “So his name is Liam, huh?” Easing her grip on her notebook, she stood back up and relaxed, but not all that much. “Heheh, he looks cranky. Though I believe dogs have different personalities, each individual one. I actually have a dog myself, he’s back at my dorm. He’s really huge, and a Siberian Husky.” When it came to talking about her own, Daiyu seemed to be unable to stop talking. She blushed quickly, and looked at the ground in embarrassment.

Tzila blinked and looked up at Daiyu, “…. Me too!” She grinned after that. Animal lovers were usually people she enjoyed the company of - or at least that had been her experience. It had been an alright day. Daiyu had just finished her classes in college, but didn’t want to go back to her dorm right away; she was actually starving, and Lei-Fon would be perfectly fine by himself for now. Though, she couldn’t help but worry. “H-he’ll be okay,” she reassured herself, packing her stuff and flying out the door while trying her best not to touch anyone on accident or get caught by a ‘hello’ from a fellow classmate.

On her way, she noticed something sitting in the shade. What a strange looking dog! Daiyu just had to get a closer look. Moving in with a wide smile on her face, she halted almost immediately upon noticing a person with the animal. Suddenly she felt sick, and wished she would have minded her own business.

“Liam, you really need to stop running off on your own,” Tzila explained, her voice stern. Of course, she was merely worried about the Houndour in question, who was sitting facing away from her, growling, lost in thought. He needed to get strong and defeat his two brothers! He didn’t want to waste time on a trainer! And it was in this predicament that Tzi found herself. However, she really wasn’t expecting any company. People didn’t often approach her.

“Liam, be good. I think she wants to say hi to you,” she whispered to the canine before looking up at Dai with a nervous smile. “He uh… he doesn’t… bite or anything usually.

Daiyu had practically froze when she noticed the other woman, swallowing roughly before her gaze shifted to the strange dog and then back to the other. Her heart raced at a ridiculous rate when she had been spoken to, and she clutched at her notebook roughly. She’s not so bad, probably. I mean, she has a dog, she can’t be that bad.. It was part of her mental illness to think: person with a dog = not a bully. She was blinded by her love for animals.

“A-are you sure I can…” she very slowly reached over to the Houndour, going to pet it atop it’s head. While her eyes however, remained on it’s owner, cautiously.

“Hm?” she tilted her head. This girl seemed really nervous. Well, Tzila could relate. “Oops.”

“I fell off the face of the Earth for a while. Aha… ha….” Tzi coughed and pulled at her scarf awkwardly.

“Is anyone even around?”
